US court ruling against Apple company, ordering employees to pay compensation
The decision will apply to all employees working in Apple’s stores, according to a news release from the American Broadcasting Agency.
Staff bags are searched to prevent theft from the store, which they have to wait for by their managers or security guards. Apple implemented a staff search on July 25, 2009, after which employees had to search their bags or luggage every time they left the store.
The court said in its ruling that the company will pay only staff time to wait for the search. The ruling will only apply to 52 Apple-based Apple stores in California. However, it is not yet estimated how much the technology company will cost on these payments.
